A July Update
Sure, I leave it to the last day of the month to finally put in a July entry. I always have this nagging feeling in the back of my head to update my exploits, but as it turns out, this month of July has quite been the busy one.
- The Fourth: Again, I made the trip out to South Dakota to get the "real stuff" as far as fireworks are concerned. We ended up getting a nice crowd out at The Farm, until a rouge firework literally went ape-shit (one that I had lighted) and it actually launched a couple of rockets at the crowd, narrowly missing one person's head! But again, just like last year, it gets quite annoying when kids are running around with punks in their hands wanting to blow everything off at once.
- Jarrod's Wedding: Hotter than hell. It was just an unbelievable weekend for heat and humidity, punctuated by the back that we had to take outdoor pictures with black tuxedos. The church was air conditioned, which was a relief, and afterwards for the reception, things went smoothly. The dance hall itself was a warm lil' bugger, so myself and others hung out at the bar most of the night. I felt great, but Mike ... well, he was losin' his lunch that next morning.
- Plenty of Golf, Softball: With all this free time on my hands, I've been taking advantage of some new golf clubs, a new pair of golf spikes, and have been hitting the local links around the area. The highlight was when my brother Dan and I drove down to Iowa towards the Lakes area and golfed at a prestigious golf course -- $62 green fee w/cart -- and ended up playing some decent golf. Dan even nailed his first ever Eagle on a 140-iron shot on a Par 5.
But most of my month has been consumed in post-production of my film for Crash Productions, Inc. Before, I set the release date for August 11, but I'm pushing it back one weekend to August 18 for the big premiere at The Farm. So far, I've got a pretty good following of people who are coming out to watch the film, especially from the old timers who used to play at The Owl Garden long time ago.
The film itself should be around 1 hour and 45 minutes in length and that does not include what I'm going to place on the "Special Features" disc.
With August approaching, I shouldn't be to hard-pressed for time in getting this done -- I usually do about two scenes a day and at that pace, I should give myself a week to relax prior to the premiere.
Worth noting: I'm also finishing up the "Harry Potter" saga by reading Year 7 "The Deathly Hallows". I've got about 100 pages left and it's turning out to be a pretty good read.
