Newman Wins Pole For Saturday's Race

Newman, Newman, Newman. This guy is absolutely fast on qualifying days, and yes, once again, he captured the pole and the new track record (188.887 mph) for the running of the UAW-GM Quality 500 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.

This is Newman's 6th pole position of the season, tying him with Jeff Gordon for the series lead.

In Tony's words: Ryan's got to get back on his horse! He crashed out at Kansas last Sunday, dropping him BIG TIME in the points for "The Chase." Ryan's got some strong tracks coming up, so he'd better get goin'. Ryan had a really good run at Lowe's last year, finishing second to Tony Stewart.
